Glowing Skin Products: All the serums, exfoliators, and creams that will leave your skin glowing like the goddess (or god) you are.
With winter just starting, your skin is probably crying out for some sensible exfoliation and hydration. Just speaking from experience, the dry Boston air always leaves my skin feeling like a used up piece of single-ply tissue paper every year (I’m looking at you, office tissues). But this year I’ve discovered some glowing skin products that are helping keep skin tightness and dryness away.
Anyone who knows me (and now you know this, too), knows I drink about 100oz of water per day. Some people think that’s crazy, but it’s just normal for me, idk, sorry (I’m not sorry). When I wake up, I drink two 16oz glasses of water, then sip lots of water throughout the day. When I go to the gym I drink two 25oz bottles of water in my Camelbak water bottle. So by the end of the day my body is pretty hydrated. But my face gets so dry since it’s exposed to the cold, moisture-less tundra that is New England in winter.
Glowing skin care products are becoming more mainstream, and I have been sampling a this year. I didn’t realize how much they had worked until I took a no-makeup selfie and noticed that my skin was literally clearer and brighter than it had been in recent memory. I’ve struggled with large pores and acne along my jaw line, but I finally feel like everything is all coming into place with my routine now that I’ve found some great skincare products and established a regular skincare routine.
By the way, I’d love to hear from anyone else with large pores about how you manage your day to day routine. I am actually very into face oils, and I’ve found that they’ve helped slow down my pore oil production. But I am always on the lookout for other tips and tricks to clean and shrink pores. I hope these tips and products for glowing skin help you along your skincare journey, too, and help you achieve the #nofilter skin of your dreams!

I’ve been into double cleansing lately. I usually start by removing makeup with an oil-based cleanser like this Burt’s Bees Oil Cleanser with coconut and argan oils. The oil breaks down makeup and grime without stripping moisture, and you can wipe it right off with a warm washcloth. This removes the makeup and helps prep your face for cleaning.
Next, I wash my face to remove traces of makeup and leftover oil with a gentle cleanser like MARIO BADESCU Enzyme Cleansing Gel. The fruit enzymes in this face wash help unclog pores and leave skin clean and refreshed.
Next, you’ll want to exfoliate to remove dead cells and buildup in your pores. I’ve been moving away from physical exfoliation in favor or chemical exfoliation. Physical exfoliation in using something like a scrub and rubbing it against your skin to exfoliate. Chemical exfoliation uses acids to break down old cells, so there’s no scrubbing involved.
One of my favorite glowing skin products is a chemical exfoliator, the PETER THOMAS ROTH Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads. You just rub them on your face, leave on for 1-3 minutes, and rinse off the remaining liquid. These pads contain a proprietary mix of Alpha, Beta & Gamma Acids (including Glycolic, Salicylic, Lactic, Linolenic Acids) and Amino Acids to reveal glowing skin.
You can use these daily, but I find it to be a little much for my own skin. I use the pads once or twice a week.
After exfoliating, your skin is really ready to accept glowing skin products like the DRUNK ELEPHANT C-Firma™ Day Serum. This serum has quickly become one of the best products for glowing skin. It’s potent antioxidant complex firms and brightens skin while fruit extracts minimize the size of pores.
DRUNK ELEPHANT B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum provides a shot of moisture to dry skin–I love it in the winter! It goes on so smooth and is loaded with B5 to eliminate dryness and uneven skin tone. This serum is also crafted with fruit extracts to boost skin’s luminosity, making it one of the must-have glowing skin products.
Now that I am in my mid-30’s I’ve started to use eye cream regularly to help the corners of my eyes stay wrinkle-free. I like the Mario Badescu line in general, and really love the texture of the MARIO BADESCU Hyaluronic Eye Cream. It contains aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and keep the eye area hydrated.
After all this hard work, don’t forget to apply SPF when you are exposed to the sun. Some of the products like the peel pads and Vitamin C serum can make your skin more sensitive to sun, so you want to protect your gorgeous skin from damage.
My favorite SPF glowing skin products right now are:
SUPERGOOP! Unseen Broad Spectrum 40. This cream blends in easily and I don’t find it to be greasy. I also love that it comes with a detachable lip SPF, too!
PHYSICIANS FORMULA Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30. I just started wearing this as an alternative to cream SPF when I need a light powder cover. You can get it in translucent or a natural color.
