I am obsessed with beauty products. I’ve been trying to get better about reviewing more of my favorite items, and I wanted to share a brand new product with you, the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick Color Ink ($9.49 on Amazon).
This review is not sponsored in any way. I bought the lipstick with my own free will and my own hard-earned dollars. I just love sharing products and reviews with you all and want to tell you my honest thoughts here.
Also, the photos in this article are brightened, but not touched up otherwise. They are photos of how the lipstick actually looks on me, and I didn’t touch up my face, lips, or skin at all. I did smooth out some of the background behind me since the wall was pretty textured. Just thought you’d want to know that!
Now, on to the review of the newest L’Oreal lipstick, the L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature, Lasting Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade “I Rule”!

The Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick in the color “I Rule” comes with a soft doe-foot applicator. I actually love how the product goes on to the lips. It feels kind of watery, but not in a bad way. It’s very light and goes on very smoothly. Usually I line the outer part of my lips first with the skinny tip of the applicator, then fill in the lip from there. Since it goes on very wet, it’s easy to clean up any mistakes.
I’ve seen this Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick marketed with a bunch of different language descriptors. Almost like they can’t quite figure out what it “is”? It’s been described on various websites as a lip ink, a lip stain, and a liquid lipstick. I guess it’s described in all these ways because it sort of is all of them!
I’d say it definitely fits into the ink/stain category because it does leave some pigment on your lips for a while after the product fades away with normal wear. And it definitely feels like a liquid lipstick when you’re applying it.
The Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick dries down matte in a minute or two, and the “I Rule” color delivered an awesome light mauve color payoff. Its very similar on the lips as the color of the packaging.
I was initially worried since mauves and nudes can look very purple on my skin, which is fair with olive undertones. But “I Rule” did not look overly purple on me, in my opinion. I would definitely feel comfortable wearing this shade to client meetings or for daily wear for a nude lip look.
This lipstick comes in 12 different colors, ranging from light nudes to bold reds. Check out all the colors here.
Overall, yes! I applied the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick color “I Rule” and let it dry for about 20 minutes since I was walking to the gym. I wore it during my workout, where I drank about 50 oz of water (I know, I know, I drink a lot of water every day!). It transferred off a little bit on my bottle top, but I was impressed with how long it really lasted. With other products, they can just fall off my lips onto the drinking surface. But this Loreal lip stain really held its own.
On the L’Oreal website, they say the stain can last up to 24 hours. Maybe if you literally don’t eat or drink for a full day, sure. But for me, it lasted maybe like 4-5 hours. It does leave behind a slight tint on the lips, which is nice and makes it feel like I still have some color going on.
No, Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick in the color “I Rule” is not drying. I am really sensitive to dry lipsticks and hate, hate, hate them. I feel like I can feel them physically crinkling up my lips. But the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick lip stain didn’t dry out my lips at all. I was able to wear it for several hours and didn’t even notice it on.
The quality of the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick packaging is very sleek and sturdy. It’s in a hard, transparent/clear tube. You can see exactly how much product is left in the tube. The color you see on the tube is representative of the product itself. The lid screws closed, so you shouldn’t have to worry about the lip stain spilling in your bag. The applicator is a soft doe foot, and is easy to apply the product with.
I can see the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick becoming one of my every day lipsticks. It’s light, easy to wear, and looks natural. I love that it doesn’t transfer easily, especially when eating or drinking. It comes in 12 different colors, from muted nudes to vibrant reds.
